Jüri Pootsmann is only 21 years old, but he is already a star in his native Estonia. He won the Estonia edition of Idol in 2015, which landed him a record deal with Universal Music, and Best Male Act at the 2015 Estonian Music Awards months later. This year Jüri won Eesti Laul and get the chance to present his country at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Play". What he said in an special interview for our website you can read here:
– Hello, Jüri! Congratulations on your victory! How do you feel days after the final in Estonia?
– Thank you a lot! I felt amazing, it was weird, but amazing!
– How did you decide to take part in the national selection?
– I think in Estonia, it is very normal to participate in Eesti Laul when you are a young singer trying to get to the top. So it wasn't a hard decision. Luckily it ended up well. 🙂
– How are you going to stand out on the stage in Stockholm? What about your performance do you think will win the jury and the audience?
– I think I will stand out because of the simplicity of the song and staging. I will be very classy, mysterious, bit retro and it has this smoky atmosphere. I think that is special. I really hope that I will win the jury and the audience!
– Do you have a lucky routine before you go on stage?
– I am always trying to be alone in my thought before going to stage, this is the only way how I can concentrate!
– What inspires you? What is your inner world?
– I am inspired by a lot of things! Many simple things like the weather, nature but also my friends, or some new people I meet. Of course different kind of music!
– What would you like to say to your Bulgarian fans?
– I hope to see all of you in Stockholm and that you enjoy the show! Also if you like my song, then you can vote for it! 😉
