Justs Sirmais, also known as simply Justs will represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Heartbeat". On 28 February, he won the national final "Supernova". His song is written by Latvia's 2015 entrant Aminata Savadogo. What he said specifically to our website read here:
– How do you feel days after the final in Latvia?
– Realy good. 🙂 every day I am working on making music, show, photoshoots, media…
Meeting new talanted people. It feels like I am where I have to be.
– How did you decide to take part in the national selection?
– I was looking for new experience and chance to be heard.
– Tell us more about your song. How did you decide to work with Aminata?
– She just came up with idea to make this song for me and we started this collaboration.
– What message do you want to share with the people in Europe with your song?
– I want to tell a story about unfilled dreams and hopes, about endless routine and chance to brake through and finaly let your heart beat in happiness and joy.
– Do you consider what would be your performance on the stage? Can you give us more information?
– My crew and I are working on it. But right now it's a secret! Be patient, you'll see.
– After the contest, what do you want people in Europe to remember you with?
– I hope they will remember my soul and love through music.
– What makes you different?
– I think that everyone in the whole world is different, because we have different lifes, colors, blods, stories, conditions and lot more… That make us all unique.
– What inspires you? What is your inner world?
– It is my life. Every action I take, every people I meet and speak to, every thing that happends around me..
– Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
– Ray Charles. I just admire his vocal, groove, music and soul.
– What else do you enjoy doing except music?
– Sleeping. 😀
– Who is Justs off stage?
– Hmm… I am simple hard working guy from Latvia who has been living and loving music all his life.
