Lately everyone talks about Eurovision! On 31 October 2025, the Bulgarian National Television officially announced that our country is returning to the contest, which will be held in Vienna. This was followed by countless questions regarding the potential song and performer for Bulgaria, as well as the selection format. Some sources claim that BNT has already contacted some artists, while others believe that a national selection is being prepared to increase the fan interest and attract Bulgarian talents.
One of the most mentioned names in Bulgarian pop culture in recent years is Mila Robert. Mila is not just a singer, she is also a painter, actress, and activist. Even though the pop star is only 29, yet in a short period of time she managed to gain huge national recognition — and has also managed to catch the eye of Eurovision fans. Our team reached out to Mila for an interview, as the public interest in seeing her wave the Bulgarian flag on the Eurovision stage cannot go unnoticed.
1. Who is Mila Robert?
– A free-spirited, slightly naive person who believes that things can always get better.
2. And how would the people closest to you describe you?
– Funny and cozy, probably.
3. What are the differences between your stage persona and the version of you that only the people around you see?
– There’s almost no difference, except that when I go on stage, I turn on a light that I can switch off in my everyday life.
4. Speaking of stage personas — can you tell us a bit more about Milana, and whether we might expect to see her today?
– Milana is my salvation, the wise turtle that lives within me, the girl who loves to play and create things and who understands that nothing is that serious.
5. We know you’ve been preparing this album for a long time. What were the biggest challenges?
– I felt it was right the whole time, as if each next step was orchestrated from above, as cliché as that may sound. The hardest part was patience, I suppose — not falling for the idea that everything has to be NOW. “Haste makes waste” was the motto.
6. Three words you would use to describe the album?
– <3 GOD, FREEDOM, REVOLUTION <3
7. What is the message you would like to resonate with your fans?
– There is nothing more important than being a decent human being.
8. Which song is your personal favorite?
– I love them all and I actually enjoy listening to them, which is rare — usually after a release, I avoid replaying my songs. This time I have no complaints, haha. “Divine Divane” is very special to me because most people did not believe it could succeed.
9. As we know, Bulgaria hasn’t participated in Eurovision lately. However, your name is constantly mentioned as a potential representative who can bring us a great result. Do you think Bulgaria should return to the contest?
– I think Eurovision is the World Cup of music. I believe Bulgaria has endless talent and culture that we can showcase to the world. I want to participate — both as an artist and as a creative writer for another artist. I believe we can really surprise everyone.
10. Would you personally be interested in representing our country?
– I’d gladly put on a show. The song I would write would probably come from the universe of “СЪРЦЕ.”
11. If the rules allowed already-released songs, which of your tracks would you want to compete with?
– I think “Polujivi” with Azis would have a great chance of being in the top 3.
12. What can Europe expect if Mila steps onto the Eurovision stage?
– A person who is not afraid to be an alien. <3 GOD, FREEDOM, REVOLUTION <3
13. Are there any colleagues of yours you would love to see representing Bulgaria at Eurovision?
– Azis, Sofi Marinova, Mona, Dara, Preyah and many others — we’re overflowing with talent.
14. And could we expect future projects with some of these artists (outside the Eurovision context)?
– Everything is possible 🙂
15. Do you have an unpopular opinion that you stand by 100%?
– Most of my opinions are unpopular and I stand by them 100%, haha.
16. If you were traveling to the Moon, what would you take with you? You must choose one album, one book, and one type of food.
– Probably a compilation of old chalga hits so I’m not scared and they can cheer me up. Book — The Artist’s Way, maybe I’ll actually finish it on the Moon. And pickles with vinegar.
17. What’s the last spontaneous thing you did?
– My partner and I bathed naked in a waterfall located in the heart of the Rhodope mountains.
18. What thoughts, memories, and emotions do the words “I dream wildly of the new days” (from your song “It Will Keep Getting Better”) bring to you?
– Every one of my concerts in the last 3–4 years ends with that line. The memories are of people jumping and shouting “It will keep getting better.”
19. A new cover of Ivana or a duet with her?
– Oh, how I would love a duet with Ivana…
20. Finally — what would you choose: for your tears to be made of real rakia, or to have your own personal Pokémon?
– That’s not even a question — I’m taking the Pokémon and leaving.
